Dyson have revolutionized the vacuum with their latest filterless and bagless offering. The Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Allergy vacuum (DC65) never loses suction and even though almost every other vacuum manufacture states this claim it actually holds true with the Dyson Cinetic range of vacuums – the filterless approach works.
If you have owned a Dyson vacuum in the past this new offering won’t hold any surprises when it comes to design. The included attachments are generous, but other than that you might think that you had picked up an older model. However, the subtle difference under the hood makes this bagless vacuum stand out from its predecessors.
If you are looking for a top rated vacuum cleaner and don’t mind paying a premium for a bagless vacuum cleaner the Cinetic big ball animal allergy vacuum is a great vacuum that excels at deep cleaning of carpets, upholstery, and rugs let’s take a closer look.
Design and Features
Dyson haven’t reinvented the wheel with the Dyson Cinetic big ball animal vacuum and it proudly sits on Dyson’s trademarked ball which offers extra maneuverability. The dust bin is located at the top of the ball and firmly clicked into place and can be removed really easily with just a push of a red button. The dust bin also features a handle which allows you to carry the whole vacuum easily, which is great for when vacuuming the stairs or cleaning upholstery.
The overall design of the Dyson Cinetic big ball animal vacuum has ease of use in mind, the power button is placed next to the button for flipping down the brushroll and when you are ready to vacuum the unit simply reclines back without any effort or any buttons to press.
Once you are done simply lift the handle to it upright position and the kickstand wheel automatically lover and lock into place.
What really got my attention when I first used the Dyson Cinetic big ball animal vacuum is the amount of attachments that are provided. There are a total of 9 different tools to use for cleaning just about anything around the home, with tools for cleaning tight spaces and crevices, upholstery, curtains and it can even be used solely as a vacuum for pet hair.
One of the great things about owning a filterless vacuum is that there are no dirty filters to wash; even though there are no filters on this vac it still provides HEPA filtration.
The Dyson Cinetic big ball animal vacuums design is based on previous models and some of the problems and issues from older Dyson vacuums seem to have carried over to this model. For example, the plastic feels loose and flimsy to touch and during our testing the back didn’t seem to click back into place every time which in turn caused the Dyson to fall over.
You would think that these simple issues would be ironed out in previous models especially when you are paying a premium for a Dyson. Apart from those couple of issues the vacuum is a great performer and you can see why so many consumers have voted Dyson as a top rated vacuum cleaner for the home year after year.
In our test we found that that the Dyson big ball animal allergy performed well on hardwood floors, laminate flooring and low- and mid-pile carpets. However, we did find that when used on hardwood flooring it had a tendency to spread the mess instead of vacuuming it up so we had to use one of the supplied hose attachments. Where the Dyson really shined was when it came to removing pet hair, when combined with the pet hairs removal tools supplied it made light work.
From our testing the overall suction on the Dyson was superior when compared to alternatives in this price bracket.
Maintenance and Support
Like all Dyson vacuums the Dyson Cinetic big ball animal vacuum comes with a 5 year warranty on parts and labor when purchased from an authorized reseller like Amazon.
The supplied user manual that comes in the box provides a problem solving page where you can self-diagnose any issues and try and fix them at home before you have to send it away for repairs.
In our Dyson vacuum review we put the Dyson Cinetic big ball animal vacuum through it paces, and it really performed well. However, with a hefty price tag you really have to be a die-hard Dyson fan or adamant about having the latest technology for your home. There are other vacuums in the market that also do a great job at vacuuming around the home but you will be hard pushed to find any that are 100% filterless like the Dyson DC65.

The Good – if you are looking for a vacuum to remove pet hair from around your home the Dyson is a great choice when it comes to pet hair removal. This Dyson vacuum does away with the traditional filter and actually never loses any suction power without it. The Dyson is an excellent all-rounder vacuum for the home and is extremely good with fine particles and deep cleaning carpets and rugs.
The Bad – The Dyson big ball animal vacuum is not cheap and only offers a slight gain in performance when compared to slightly cheaper alternatives in the marketplace.
The Bottom Line – Dyson have revolutionized the vacuum cleaner with the Cinetic series and even though the filterless/bagless approach works, this added convenience doesn’t really justify the high price when compared to the competition.
